The ������ý��׿�ƽ�� Lafayette • Ochsner Accelerated BSN Program’s first cohort has achieved a 100% first-time passage rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

A total of 16 accelerated BSN nursing graduates passed the rigorous national licensure exam as first-time test takers.

������ý��׿�ƽ�� Lafayette’s accelerated BSN program was launched in 2023. It is directed by the and its LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing. The program enables students who hold a bachelor’s degree in any field to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing in less time. 

“The accelerated BSN program represents a strategic partnership between the University and Ochsner Lafayette General that was created to address a need for registered nurses in the region,” said Dr. Lisa Broussard, dean of the College of Nursing & Health Sciences.

She added: “The success of the accelerated program’s first cohort reaffirms the University’s commitment to continually growing and evolving as the primary contributor to the region’s health care workforce.” 

Perfect – or nearly perfect – NCLEX pass rates among the college’s nursing graduates has been the norm for decades. This year is no exception. The University’s overall NCLEX-RN passage rate of 97.1% for its 2025 graduates of its traditional and accelerated nursing programs exceeds the state average of 89.46% and the national average of 87.35%.

“Our nursing program is rigorous, but that – along with the quality of our students – is why our graduates do so well on their licensure exams. And it’s why we send so many highly skilled nurses into the workforce,” Broussard said.
