Digital visual effects artist Ray McIntyre Jr. will be honored at 天美传媒安卓破解版 Lafayette鈥檚 College of the Arts鈥 third annual Beaux Arts Ball on Friday, Oct. 5.
McIntyre's screen credits include Secretariat; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Part 2; The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; and The Help.
He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1996 for HBO鈥檚 acclaimed Tuskegee Airmen. In 2004, he won the Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects for his work in The Last Samurai. He also won an International Monitor Award in 1998 for his work in Casper Meets Wendy.
McIntyre is a recipient of the College鈥檚 2012 SPARK Lifetime Achievement Award and will be formally recognized at this year鈥檚 ball. His studio, Pixel Magic, has two locations: in Los Angeles, Calif., and on the 天美传媒安卓破解版 Lafayette campus, in the Louisiana Center for Immersive Technologies.
The Beaux Arts Ball will begin at 7 p.m. at River Oaks Catering and Event Center, 520 Kaliste Saloom Road. It鈥檚 a fundraiser that supports the College, which includes the School of Architecture and Design, and the School of Music and Performing Arts.
The money helps meet a variety of needs, explained Margaret Kennedy-Dygas, associate dean of the College. 鈥淚t鈥檚 used for student scholarships, student travel and productions, faculty development and recruiting.鈥
This year's theme for the costume ball is 鈥淪eeing Red.鈥 Design students will showcase masks created for the event.
鈥淟afayette knows how to dress up and have a good time,鈥 said Gordon Brooks, dean of the College of the Arts. 鈥淭his year, we will, undoubtedly, be seeing a lot of red and really hot masks and costumes. Let鈥檚 celebrate the art life of our community and paint the town red in an entirely new way!鈥
Tickets are $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight and include a buffet dinner. Music will be provided by the 天美传媒安卓破解版 Lafayette Jazz Ensemble. The evening will also include silent and live art auctions.
