Jonathan Goodwin is the co-editor of Reading Graphs, Maps, Trees: Critical Responses to Franco Moretti (Parlor Press, 2011) and the author of articles on James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, John le Carré, David Lynch, David Foster Wallace, John Cowper Powys, and Olaf Stapledon, among others. He is currently using computational approaches such as topic-modeling and citational network analysis to study the history of academic disciplines. This work also informs the monograph he is writing on how early twentieth-century advances in statistics and probability were reflected in literary representations of such concepts as purpose, risk, chance, and inevitability.
